The Walnut Creek Extension District will host the Wheat Variety Plot Tours on Thursday, May 29, 2025 starting in Rush County at 9:30 am. Presenting at the tours will be KSRE Agronomist, Dr. Romulo Lollato and K-State Plant Pathologist, Kelsey Anderson-Onofre.

The Rush County plot cooperator is Mark Baus and there are 20 different varieties. It is located 11 miles straight west of Casey’s in LaCrosse on Highway 4, turning into Avenue L. One mile south on County Road 140, turn west on Avenue M for 1.5 miles. The plot is located on the south side of the road. Refreshments will be served at this location.
The next stop will be in Ness County at 2:00 pm. The plot has been conducted by cooperator Stephen Nichepor. The plot is located at 17282 T Road. From Ness City, go north on Highway 283 for four miles and then turn east on Road 170 for 1 mile and then turn North on Road T. The plot is located north of the Nichepor Farmhouse, approximately ¼ of a mile.
The final tour will be held at 6 pm in Lane County with Vance Ehmke, cooperator. Dr. Romulo Lollato will discuss 23 wheat varieties and Ehmke will provide information on the rye and triticale varieties. A light supper will be provided at this plot that is located seven miles west of Dighton, on Eagle Road, 2 miles south to West Road 130 then 200 yards west toward the Ehmke farmstead (east of the scale).
